Our project to perfect the best solution for providers to better care for infants born in distress while still attached to mother, especially in the water has led to the "Life Board." These boards allow for a hard surface to be used during resuscitation while allowing the infant to remain with mother during their care. We plan on having these boards custom made and branded with Cadon Joy's name. We desperately wish our midwife had used something like this and provided care for our daughter like pictured here. We are currently taking interest for those who would like more information on purchasing a board to use in their practice.

As a fresh postpartum mother, spending time in the NICU with my newborn baby was hard. It is taxing on the body to travel and then the walk up to the NICU and the lack of accommodating seating in the NICU left me struggling to heal. I was very uncomfortable, bleeding, and needed lots of materials downstairs in order to feel comfortable. Unfortunately, in the NICU restrooms there was no safe place to lay my postpartum care items until I was ready to use them and there were no postpartum care items accessible or readily available if I forgot or ran out of my own personal supplies. We plan to rectify this and provide postpartum mothers with the care and items needed while visiting their babies in the NICU. We also plan to look for and rectify other needs within the local NICUs in our area.
We are very excited to give back both financially and through volunteering to the end of life care team that helped us so much. Without them, we would not have been able to bring Cadon Joy home and love on her the way we did on her last day with us. It was truly a dream to have her at home and I was so worried that it would not be able to happen. Hands of Hope hospice group made it happen for us and we are eternally grateful and cannot wait to collaborate with them on ways to support their organization.
