Our greatly anticipated bundle of "JOY", Cadon Joy Coates, was born swiftly on May 27th, 2022, weighing 9lbs 12oz and 22.5" long, surrounded by family and love. She was born at home during a planned homebirth with a CNM as our provider. She was born in respiratory distress and suffered from a hypoxic brain injury after birth. Cadon Joy spent the next several days in the NICU clinging to life as they tried everything to reverse and prevent new brain damage. On June 7th, we brought her home and removed her from life support. She passed away surrounded by her father, brother and sister, wrapped in her mother's arms as she sang and rocked her. She was only 11 days old. We are now currently trying to make a difference and prevent this type of injury and help other's who are in similar situations. We hope to find "JOY" in honoring our sweet Cadon Joy by helping others.
The Cadon Joy Foundation is a foundation devoted primarily to providing pre/post-natal and pediatric support and education for both mother and child; home birth education and neo-natal resuscitation training, as well as parental mental health support, post-partum supplies and concurrent/end of life support.
We want to use Cadon's story for change and to better the birth community.
